Frequently asked questions
What should I do in the first hour after water damage?
Stop the source if you safely can (turn off the water mains for a burst pipe), switch off power to any flooded area at the switchboard before stepping in water, get people and pets out of contaminated water, then photograph everything before you start cleaning up. Speed matters: mould can begin within 24 to 48 hours.
Is water damage covered by home insurance in Australia?
It depends where the water came from. Sudden events like a burst pipe or a storm driving rain in are commonly covered, but flood (water escaping from rivers, creeks, dams and other watercourses) is often separate or optional cover. Check your policy wording, because flood, storm and rainwater are treated differently.

How much does water damage restoration cost?
It is quoted per job. Many household jobs land around $2,500 to $4,000, but the full range runs from roughly $1,000 for a minor clean-water spill to $20,000 or more for severe or sewage (black water) damage. Always get a written quote. See our cost guide for the breakdown.

How fast does mould grow after water damage?
With moisture, warmth and organic material to feed on, mould can start colonising within 24 to 48 hours, and Australia's warm, humid climate speeds it up. That is why getting a property properly dried out in the first day or two is the single best way to avoid a much bigger mould bill later.
How does this directory work?
We list real water and flood damage restoration companies across Sydney, organised by metro region, with the service types their public listing points to. When you request quotes we pass your details to providers serving your area. We do not publish provider phone numbers or websites, and we do not verify licences or insurance, so always confirm those directly before you hire.
Is it free to request quotes?
Yes. Requesting quotes is free and there is no obligation. Your details are only used to connect you with a provider serving your area.
